Kamala Picks Tim Walz as her Vice-Presidential Pick

August 6, 2024

It has been confirmed that progressive Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has a history of successfully appealing to moderate voters, is Kamala Harris’s choice for her running mate. Harris will publicly announce this pic shortly before kicking off a multi-day tour of battleground states starting today in Philadelphia.Â

What are his credentials to date?

First, he was elected as Minnesota’s 41 Governor in 2018 and won re-election in 2022.

His successes as Governor are as follows:

  1. Protected reproductive freedom.
  2. Strengthen voting rights.
  3. Cut taxes for the middle class
  4. Provided universal free school meals for students
  5. Expanded paid leave for Minnesota workers.
  6. Provided a plan for 100% clean electricity by 2040

Prior to his being the Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz won his first election to the United States House of Representatives in 2006 and was re-elected for another five terms, serving Minnesota’s First Congressional District in Southern Minnesota and ranking member of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee.

Tim was born in rural Nebraska. He enlisted in the Army National Guard. Later, he attended Chadron State College and graduated with a social science degree in 1989.

He spent time as a teacher, teaching abroad prior to returning home, going back full-time into the Army National Guard, but then he eventually accepted a high school teaching and coaching position.

While teaching high school, Tim met his future wife, Gwen Whipple, who also taught at the same school. They both moved to Mankato, Minnesota in 1996 to teach at Mankato West High School. Tim coached the Mankato West football team, and they won the school’s first state championship.

Kamala to Pick her VP Running Mate

August 4, 2024

Kamala Harris has a choice from several candidates to become her Vice-Presidential pick to become the Vice-President of the United States if she were to win the election. She is meeting with the top 3 candidates at her Washington, D.C. residence.

The following people are in contention as the top three…

  1. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz

  2. U.S. Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona

  3. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro

Immediately after her choice for Vice-President, she will be holding a rally on Tuesday in Philadelphia, PA. So, while I read the tea leaves regarding who her running mate will be, it’s not hard for me to conclude that she will pick Governor Josh Shapiro. But she has already met Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Friday and scheduling virtual meetings up through Monday. All the possible running mates have excellent resume’s and could fulfill the position of Vice-President.

I believe that by tomorrow, Monday, August 5th, Kamala Harris will pick one of them. If she picks the very popular Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, she stands a very good chance to win the state in November. He’s proven himself to be a very effective communicator and leader, and it just seems that he’s in a good position to be selected. Remember, she needs to win the election first, then she can govern as POTUS. The electoral map is pretty close at the moment, but with a great pick as her running mate, someone that will go with her to the Democratic Convention this month, would be a very important pick to push her message. Governor Josh Shapiro is an excellent orator. Whomever she picks, others can be in her administration in the future, just like Pete Buttigieg that most likely will keep his spot as Transportation Secretary.  In a recent Pennsylvania rally with Josh Shapiro, Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, stood up for Josh and energized the crowd.

In any case, the candidates in contention will be told either on Monday night or on Tuesday, prior to the scheduled rally in Pennsylvania.
